A clinical pharmacist in North Carolina, Ryan Mills has distinguished himself by being one of the few pharmacists who has earned an MBA (master of business administration), an MHA (master of healthcare administration), a PharmD (doctor of pharmacy), and BCPS (board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist). Fewer than 1 percent of the pharmacists in the United States have earned all of these degrees. Ryan Mills remains active in his professional community as a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners’ Advisory Group on Advancing Pharmacy Practice with Technicians.
The section strives to enhance care in inpatient facilities by providing pharmacists and technicians with professional development. The group ultimately aims to obtain better health outcomes by integrating clinical and operational services.
To achieve these goals, the section supports inpatient care practitioners by advocating for them in ASHP policy development and by supporting their continuing education on best practices for professionals who work with inpatients. Section members also benefit from updated information on issues affecting the profession and guidance on issues that affect their quality of work life.
